GUIDO SOTOMAYOR RODAS ARTESANO ARTIST

Born in Quito, Ecuador.

In 1989 he was awarded a scholarship by the Central Bank of Ecuador to goldsmithing, wood carving, taracea and imagine of The Quiteña School Techniques at the School Bernardo de Legarda.

At the same time, investigations begin regardless of the andean ancestral worldview. Applying techniques with pre-Columbian and Amazonian designs and employing non-traditional materials such as tagua seed, wood chonta, spigot shell, black coral, mother-of-pearl and seeds especially the Ecuadorian Amazon.

This combined with silver, gold, bronze and semi-precious and precious stones. This work resulted in a collection of articles from jewelry, decoration and utilitarians, which deserved recognition Directorate of Handicrafts, which opened doors for exhibit outside the country.
